It was a whimsical Instagram post published by Kevin Max (DC Talk, Audio Adrenaline) that brought me immediate joy last night when I saw it: two of the most significant musical/artistic/poetic/human influences in my life in one candid backstage shot taken yesterday at Joshuafest in California. I’ll spare you my personal testimony about specifically how Kevin Max and Aaron Sprinkle (Poor Old Lu, Fair, Rose Blossom Punch, Blank Books, solo and producer/engineer extraordinaire) each, independently, impacted me over the years (though Aaron’s impact includes projects with his brother Jesse, in addition to his solo work) and just let you know that it inspired me to make a Spotify playlist featuring several of the newer tracks from projects involving Max and Sprinkle on one playlist with a name inspired by Max’s Instagram caption, “Maxie-Sprinkles.”
Max and Sprinkle have not, yet, collaborated on a project, but, I’ll be the first to raise my hand and suggest that they do. It could be amazing! Listen to this playlist a few times through and see if you agree.
Albums featured on the playlist include…
KEVIN MAX — BROKEN TEMPLES, PLAYING GAMES WITH THE SHADOW, AWOL
AARON SPRINKLE — WATER AND GUNS, REAL LIFE, BLANK BOOKS: EP1, LUNA WAVE
