Morning Coffee With Jesus

I believe that it must have been easier to live as a Christian prior to modern times. There are so many distractions that divert our attention from what is real and true. I know that I am at my worst when prayer and devotion hasn’t been a high priority in my life. This is not to say that with prayer and devotion I am invincible. Far from it! But when I keep my eyes on Him who is invincible, my Faith is proven to have been well placed.

When He came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed Him. A man with leprosy came and knelt before Him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” He said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cured of his leprosy. Matthew 8:1-3

  1. I must give a huge AMEN to what you have written! Although I wonder what their distractions would have been! I know now with as I am in school, working full time, married and two kids it is so easy to push Jesus to the side and forget how much I am desperately in need of connecting with him each day! May God give us the grace to say no to those things that are mere distraction to keep us from sitting at His feet!

  2. I think each time period had their “troubles for the day.” I know i feel overwhelmed and busy and distracted and goodness knows I spend far too much time away from God, but back in the day of the Apostles, they were rejected and spurned and jailed just for assembling together…talk about being distracted! They had to really consider their lives when they prayed and had church with one another…

  3. Amazing ! Kindred hearts! There is nothing like starting out our morning with a hot cup of coffee or cocoa, with that quiet time with Jesus! So many times in my prayers, I have just voiced, Lord let me sit at your feet, and bask in the warmth of Your presence. Lord wrap me with your Love.
Thank you for your beautiful post, and beautiful heart. May God Bless you and your family.
